What is the GPC (ABO) bank statement format
GPC, often called ABO, is the most common electronic statement format in Czech accounting. In a few minutes you will know what it contains, why it is CZK only and where it runs out.

What GPC is for
A file with the .gpc extension carries account transactions in a form Czech accounting software can read: POHODA through the Homebanking service, Money S3 through statement import with the ABO service and ABRA Flexi through the ABO format set on the bank account.
File structure
GPC is a text file in which every line has a fixed length of 128 characters. The meaning of a value is given by its exact position in the line, not by a separator.
- Record 074 is the statement header: account number, name, opening and closing balance, turnovers and the statement sequence number.
- Records 075 are individual transactions: counterparty account, document number, amount, posting code, variable, constant and specific symbol and date.
Format limits
- In practice the format is meant for CZK accounts; EUR and USD use MultiCash or XML.
- Text fields have a limited length, so a longer description or counterparty name is shortened.
- The counterparty account is written in the domestic form; a foreign IBAN does not fit.
How to get GPC
Some banks offer a GPC export directly in online banking. When all you have is a PDF statement, VýpisFlow creates GPC from it for CZK accounts at MONETA Money Bank, Česká spořitelna, ČSOB, Fio banka and Komerční banka. Frequently asked questions
Is GPC the same as ABO?
In accounting practice, yes: ABO is the name of the format and service, GPC is the extension of the statement file.
Why can I not create GPC for a EUR account?
The format is meant for CZK accounts. For foreign currencies use MultiCash or POHODA XML.
Can I open GPC in Excel?
You can open it as text, but because of the fixed field widths a preview in the converter or in your accounting software is easier to read.
